It’s funny how life works out sometimes. This weekend saw yours truly trying to survive work and working with the public can be a soul sucking experience to say the least. Working in a tourist location does not make it any better but I will say that as much as I hate this job sometimes, this past Sunday, I was thanking it.
The event happened Sunday evening around 6 PM CT when one of my associates came running up to me shaking and smiling. She mentioned to me in a fan frenzy voice that Edward Cullen just came in. Now, of course, I replied with a resounding… who? Then she proceeded to tell me that it was Edward Cullen from the Twilight franchise to which, again, I said I have never seen any of the movies. I’m sorry but I haven’t. No offense to those films but I never had any interest in them. I was always more of an Underworld fan for obvious reasons. Anyway, I digress. She finally said that it was Kellan Lutz, and I was immediately intrigued as I am a fan of Lutz’s since he started making action films like Expendables 3, The Legend of Hercules, Extraction, Arena and most recently Due Justice. I have done several articles about him on the site, so I was more than eager to see if it was him as I am a true fan of his action film work.

I proceeded to walk up the stairs to the main area of the facility and there was a tall man playing with his daughter and as soon as I looked at him, I recognized right away that it was indeed Kellen Lutz. I walked up to him and said Hi and asked him if he was Kellan Lutz and as soon as I did, he smiled and immediately reached out and shook my hand and said “yes, I am how are you?” What proceeded was an hour of fanboy greatness as Lutz graciously took photos with staff and customers and I was able to talk to him about some of his movies. I told him that I was a fan of The Legend of Hercules and that his fight with Scott Adkins was solid. He replied that Scott was awesome to work with and that he was stoked that I loved it. It was a shame that I didn’t have my 3-D Blu Ray for him to sign but how was I supposed to know that I would randomly meet Kellan Lutz at work of all places.

We also talked about his new movie Desert Dawn which he stars with Cam Gigandet and Action-Flix favorite Chad Michael Collins and he said that it should be coming out soon. Now, I didn’t want to bug him as he was there with his family, but Lutz came up to us several times throughout his visit and talked to myself and my co-workers. I can’t say enough how awesome he was and how accommodating he was to us. Of course, I mentioned that I run an action film website and would love to have him on my podcast, and he immediately let me know who to contact and said that he would be more than honored to come on so we shall see.

It’s funny how things happen randomly and what was a hard and long weekend ended up being a rewarding experience as out of nowhere, I was able to meet one of my favorite current action stars and he was a true human being. You could tell that he was sincere with each and every person he met, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience.
Anyway, be on the lookout for his upcoming actioner Desert Dawn coming soon and he did say that he was going to start filming a new movie after his vacation, but he didn’t say what it was. He posed for a couple of photos with me, and he even instigated making a short video where he gave me and my site a shout out. Hopefully, Lutz will be a guest on The Action Fix in the future. Stay tuned.
Randomly Amazing.
