This weekend is all about the MCU as Marvel Studios unleashes the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine among the masses, but James Gunn and his DC Studios is still making waves at Friday’s events at the 2024 SDCC as he unveiled a first look teaser for the animated series Creature Commandos which highlights Frank Grillo as the voice of Rick Flagg, Sr. who is the leader of the highly dysfunctional and warped spec ops unit consisting of the most bizarre warriors to ever enter the DC Universe outside of The Suicide Squad. This rag tag team of nefarious killers definitely sports the wacked out vibes of Suicide Squad so that is certainly a plus for fans who are lovers of this IP from DC who enjoy their action and thrills with adult humor. Check out the new teaser below!!
Along with the reveal for Creature Commandos, Gunn also unveiled the logo for his newly branded DC Studios which sports the retro vibe of old school DC. Check it out!

The just revealed DC Studios logo is a product of the classic logo which was designed by Milton Glaser, and it was used on the covers of all comics and used for live action properties as well from 1977 to 2005.
Besides Grillo, the stacked ensemble voice cast for Creature Commandos includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Steve Agee as John Economos, and Sean Gunn as Weasel. Viola Davis reprises her role of Amanda Waller.
One promising aspect of Gunn’s DC Studios is that an actor will play the role of their iconic character in all forms of the DC Studios universe including all mediums like animation and live action projects. One major example of this deals with Frank Grillo who voices Rick Flagg, Sr. in this series and he will also play the role in real life in season two of Peacemaker with John Cena. Grillo will also reprise the role in the new Superman movie which is currently filming as we speak.
DC Studios’ Creature Commandos will stream on Max exclusively in December!
