Maria Tran is a force to be reckoned with in indie action cinema and the action star and filmmaker is the legit goods when it comes to onscreen action design and heavy drama. Tran is an award-winning Vietnamese-Australian martial arts superstar that has cut her teeth in numerous action flicks like Hit Girls, Fist of the Dragon and her latest creation, the assassin themed thriller Echo 8 which sees Tran wearing multiple hats as lead star and co-director for the film that boasts sensational fight action with a deep and meaningful dramatic storyline that immerses the viewer into the dark and brutal world of assassins and killers.
Echo 8 is unleashed upon the masses this year, but Tran wants to expand the universe and she is now developing a trilogy that will now include a prequel to Echo 8 as well as a sequel. A crowdfunding campaign is now live for the ambitious project and the campaign has already reached its goal and is now looking to further the production with a stretch run. Hi everyone, I’m Maria Tran, the director, producer, actor, fight choreographer, and editor who shares roles with many of my collaborators & I’m presenting to you the ‘ECHO 8 TRILOGY’, a 3-part urban action assassin feature film with a female perspective (that will pass the Bechdel test). It revolves around an assassin named ECHO 8 who infiltrates a house for a mission and finds out some secrets hit close to home.
The planned prequel is called FIVE BY FIVE and it “is about the antagonist’s descent into chaos within Zodiac’s ranks. The tone is serious, dark, and gritty in the vein of ‘The Hunger Games’ meets ‘The Long Kiss Goodnight’.”
The follow sequel is titled ECHO 8 BEYOND and “is about Echo 8/Anna living off-grid, protecting her mother from afar until a group of misfits foils her identity. The tone is witty, fast-paced similar to Guardians of the Galaxy meets Black Widow.”
The first film, simply title Echo 8, is now available to view on TUBI as well as Amazon Prime and centers on “an assassin who suffers from amnesia and must choose between her loyalty to Zodiac and the memories of her tragic past that keep flashing through her mind.“
