Some quick news bytes here on a Friday to wrap up the week and James Gunn took to social media to announce that Superman: Legacy has officially started filming. To go along with the announcement, Gunn also shared a first look at The Man of Steel’s logo and that the movie will now simply be called Superman. The name change isn’t surprising as this movie is instrumental on getting Gunn’s new DCU off on the right foot. Scroll below to check out the iconic S which is covered in snow which can foreshadow a trip to the Fortress of Solitude!
The cast for Superman features David Corenswet (Pearl) as Clark Kent AKA Superman with Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) who is playing Lois Lane. Additional cast members include Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) as Guy Gardne AKA Green Lantern as well as Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) who is Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) will be playing Mister Terrific. Anthony Carrigan (Barry) is Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class) is The Engineer, and she is a member of The Authority. Sara Sampaio (At Midnight) is Eve Teschmacher; with Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) as Jimmy Olsen. Nicholas Hoult won the role of the devious and sinister Lex Luthor so it will be interesting to see how he does with such an iconic role.
Gunn shared a cast photo las week featuring everyone right before the camera were set to roll.
Zack Snyder’s now defunct DCEU divided fans to the extreme although I was one of the ones on the bandwagon and think that his version of Justice League is one of the greatest comic book films of all time. I’m such a fan of both DC and Marvel, I will always show up for these films, so I wait impatiently just like everyone else to see footage.
In other news, Tron: Ares has also started filming and we have a first look image of a new user named Rinzler courtesy of Disney and he is certainly sporting my favorite colors, so I think he looks bad ass. Scroll below!

Tron: Ares is being helmed by Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon-Tiki, Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) from a script penned by Steven Lisberger, Bonnie MacBird, and Jack Thorne. The new cast for this follow up includes Jared Leto as the main lead, with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson rounding out the cast.
TRON: Ares “follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
I have always been a fan of the original with Jeff Bridges but never really took to the sequel. I have to admit that I am curious about this one but ultimately, I think that ship has sailed for me on this franchise. I really don’t think anyone asked for a third Tron movie but hey, since it’s coming, might as well check it upon delivery. The movie is set for a 2025 release.
