It’s almost time to not be nice! I might have to eat some crow on this one as I was a staunch disbeliever of the project when it was first announced but damn if the remake of Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal is looking better every time I see a little something. I will say that the supporting cast is still leaving me wanting on so many levels but other than that and the three seconds of footage I saw when Amazon dropped an upcoming teaser of future movies, I’m getting kind of hyped for this even though I can literally hear the snarky criticism and see the laughing emojis when I post this article on social media but who cares becuae I sure don’t. Gyllenhaal might just have something here and if you can accept this along with the original which will always be around, then you might like what this one is serving.
Amazon MGM Studios has officially dropped key art for the remake featuring a bloody and battered Gyllenhaal along with an actual release date of March 21st when we will be able to stream it on Amazon Prime. Check out the teaser art below!

“In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the ’80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.”
I love that they immersed the poster with numerous Easter Eggs to the original including the original neon lit title, Dalton’s “Be Nice” also lit up and a sign which features his 3 simple rules: 1) Expect the unexpected, 2) Take it outside, 3) and the aforementioned Be nice. Clearly, they are respecting the source material and I like that. If you look hard enough, you can also make out the iconic “For a great Buick, call 555-7616.” Now let’s hope that the fight and brawl scenes are off the chart and hyper-brutal as the film is rated R for “violence throughout, pervasive language, and some nudity.”
I am also excited to see the inevitable throwdown between Gyllenhaal’s Dalton and UFC bad boy Conor McGregor who is most assuredly playing the role made famous by Marshall Teague in the original. If there isn’t a throat rip, then UI will be sorely disappointed. Additional cast members (again, not impressed) includes Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams and Joaquim De Almeida. Like I said, not really satisfying on that end but Doug Liman helming does and always did bode well for the production as he is a solid filmmaker with a list that includes The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow, and The Wall. Did I forget to mention that the remake of Road House received the highest test screenings score of any of Liman’s movies. Yes, that includes Edge of Tomorrow AKA Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow.
With the poster unveiling, you know a trailer is close behind and a little birdy told me it will be tomorrow so keep it Locked N Loaded right here for more Intel and premieres to follow as we are your destination for your action fix. “You’re too stupid to have a good time!”
In the meantime, while we pour a drink and wait, check out the Amazon Prime movie teaser that includes the first look footage of Road House!
