This is without a doubt the first biggest piece of action cinema news for 2024 and the cat is officially out of the bag as it’s being reported that Scott Adkins is reuniting with his Triple Threat co-star Iko Uwais who is headlining a new sci-fi actioner titled Warpath. The movie is being helmed by Skylines franchise director Liam O’Donnell who worked with Uwais on Beyond Skyline.

Production is underway for the last two weeks in Indonesia as we speak and Adkins teased the project for fans on social media shortly after the Christmas break. Check out an image of Adkins with Uwais’ stunt team below as they prepare to create the carnage!

“New Years Eve training with the Iko Uwais Stunt Team,” Adkins stated in his post on Facebook. Adkins also showed off his current look for the movie (which you can see below) but his role is currently unknown at this time.

Warpath will see Uwais playing “a small-time criminal who, after discovering a powerful artifact in the midst of a world-altering event, embarks on a perilous mission to save his people from warring factions of dangerous adversaries.” Courtesy of IMDb
O’Donnell is directing from a script he also wrote and the supporting cast sees Uwais’ longtime collaborator Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, John Wick: Chapter 3) getting involved once again. I can already start to picture the crowd pleasing and brutal action set pieces as they form in my mind.

With O’Donnell, who is one of the leading indie filmmakers out there, at the helm and some serious action cred like Uwais, Adkins and Ruhian involved, Warpath has the makings of being an extreme action hit upon release. Blending sci-fi with bone breaking Indonesian fight choreography is a surefire recipe for success.
