Round 1 of my new 2024 Action Sneak Peek series featured international action star Scott Adkins teaming with fellow action star Frank Grillo for the underground fight flick Lights Out. It’s only fitting that I keep the Adkins train rolling along with two of his other highly anticipated projects that should make their way to his fans in 2024.
ONE MORE SHOT, which will make its official debut on Sky Cinema in the UK on January 12th, will see Adkins reprising his role of Navy SEAL Jake Harris from the original movie One Shot. The ambitious film from director James Nunn, who returns for the follow up, saw the action unfolding in one continuous shot with no cut aways as Harris and his elite team of operators were forced to battle a full on siege from insurgents who were red hot on freeing their leader.

The movie was one of the best action movies of 2022, and my number 1, and it featured Adkins’ signature action set pieces as he ran a gauntlet of enemy combatants with only his rifle, side arm and sheer grit. The action sequences, staged by Tim Man, were rock solid with some of the fiercest choreography to date for the action star and the sequel will most definitely up the ante when it comes to a single take assault on the senses.

The sequel sees the events unfolding in one continuous take once again as Harris, the lone survivor of the first movie, trying to bring the “terrorist suspect Amin Mansur (Waleed Elgadi) to Washington D.C for interrogation.” The action unfolds in an airport Die Hard 2 style but Adkins has some top tier backup in the form of fellow action star Michael Jai White and Hollywood icon Tom Berenger!

That’s three ass kickers for the price of one so strap in. This bodes well for fans with action phenom Tim Man returning to choreograph the movie’s high octane action set pieces. Like I mentioned, Man was involved in the first movie and has worked with Adkins multiple times on such films as Triple Threat, Ninja II and Abduction.
A trailer should hit any day now with the movie set to drop on the 12th so lock n load right here for updates!
The third movie set for this year looks to be a departure for Adkins as it appears it will be more of a thriller with extreme action sprinkled throughout. The movie is called Take Cover.

The sniper thriller sees Adkins playing an elite but fried sniper who must battle an unknown assailant in a penthouse that is made of all glass. With nowhere to hide, and absolutely no cover or safe have to speak of, he must play an elusive cat and mouse game with the killer before time and his life runs out. From stunt pro turned filmmaker Nick McKinless, this one looks to play it a little different with Adkins playing yet another breakaway role from what we are used to.
The official synopsis for Take Cover reads: A burned-out professional sniper finds himself trapped in an all-glass penthouse by a lethal competitor and must find a way to survive and escape with little to no cover between him and the killer.
In terms of action, this one looks to be more of a suspense thriller but fear not as Adkins is always known for putting in his signature action featuring his mad martial arts skills and more. McKinless is another one in the current trend of stunt pros turning to filmmaking like directing and writing. This does bode well for the action as he has been around for years and has a great eye for detail when it comes to onscreen mayhem.
I’m really interested in seeing what Take Cover will deliver in terms of story and action. The premise certainly stands out from the norm of indie action cinema and with a stunt pro at the helm in McKinless, there should be some stand out brutality to satisfy. Adkins always gives us what we want and even when he deviates from his normal course, he still respects his fans worldwide and always gives them his signature adrenaline.
No release date or other Intel is available at the moment so lock n load right here for future updates and more action sneak peeks for 2024!!!
