Antonio Banderas has always been a favorite of mine and he always brings his A game to any role regardless of the genre. Banderas has been tackling some rough films in action as of late and his newest thriller sees him teaming up with Alice Eve to take down a formidable serial killer in Cult Killer. A PI (Antonio Banderas) and his partner (Alice Eve) are drawn into a web of intrigue when they start tracking a serial killer targeting a wealthy family with a dark secret.
Also starring Shelley Hennig, and Paul Reid, the movie was directed by Jon Keeyes from a script penned by Charles Burnley.
The movie definitely looks atmospheric and Banderas is front and center checking all the boxes here when it comes to gritty, hard edged thrillers. Alice Eve, whom I enjoyed in the comedy She’s Out of My League, does a 180 here and turns on the dramatics here playing Banderas’ partner who also gets caught up in the web of death and destruction.
Cult Killer is In Theaters January 19, 2024 via Saban Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
