I really hope art isn’t imitating future life here with this movie but it’s all our war on AI as director Gareth Edwards’ latest sci-fi spectacular The Creator has received one last trailer ahead of its release at the end of the month. It’s all out war between humans and artificial intelligence and genre fans are chomping at the bit to check out this one from the man who gave us Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which is arguably the best of the franchise besides the original trilogy. Official Synopsis: Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.
Tenet’s John David Washington stars as the battle hardened warrior who must risk everything to question what he believes in and he’s joined by Gemma Chan (Eternals), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Sturgill Simpson (Dog), Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Allison Janney (Juno).
The subject of AI is one hot topic which is pretty much the cause of the current Hollywood strike. I’m just hoping that nothing becomes self aware in the time I’m in this planet. The movie looks sensational though and the action set pieces look second to none.
The Creator hits theaters on September 29th!
