The Mortal Kombat sequel, which promises to be bigger and badder than the original, has added four new cast members to join returning characters in the latest round of blood soaked fight supremacy. This news actually came out yesterday but since I’ve been working two jobs now, things are even tighter on working on this website. Anyway, if you care (and you probably don’t) check out the latest additions to the follow up who join previously announced Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.
According to Deadline, the biggest addition involves resident action genre henchman and all around top contender for most imposing figure Martyn Ford. The tattooed and extremely large thespian who is best known for playing the main opponent in Boyka: Undisputed and the upcoming Red Sonya reboot will play the coveted role of Outworld ruler Shao Kahn. Other announcements include Desmond Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel and Damon Herriman as Netherrealm demon Quan Chi.

Pretty underwhelming if you were expecting more martial arts infused talent to join the sequel. Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil) was also announced weeks back as the actress chosen to play Kitana. Tati Gabrielle (Uncharted) is also onboard as Jade.
Mortal Kombat 2 will once again be helmed by Simon McQuoid, with Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) penning the script. The sequel is expected to roll in front of cameras this month in Australia.
The first Mortal Kombat film’s reception was mixed to say the least and there have been many a story that those working behind the camera know that there’s a lot of room for improvement as loyal fans have been very vocal. Slater has gone on the record saying that they are looking at the Mortal Kombat sequel as “the chance to take everything that worked in the first one and do it even better and give the audience even more, and make something that is just incredibly satisfying, and really exciting, and unpredictable.” Slater also said that he wants to write a Mortal Kombat sequel that will come out of nowhere and essentially “ blow everyone away.“
It is expected that the first film’s stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han and Tadanobu Asano are all set to return for the next adventure.
