Well the cat’s out of the bag, or should I say the Brahma Bull is cutting loose once again. Spoiler alert for those that have seen Fast X yet so stop reading now if you want to be surprised….
OK, from now on I’ve warned you so it’s not my fault. We all know that it was a shock to see Dwayne Johnson’s Lucas Hobbs return in the stinger scene in Fast X what with The Rock and Diesel’s public feud erupting for a few years now.
It seems that all of that is behind them now as Johnson will indeed return for Fast 11 as well as star in his own Hobbs stand-alone flick opposite Jason Momoa who plays the over the top villain in the latest entry. The latter is said to take place during the events of Fast X with Hobbs taking on Momoa’s Dante who is in for some serious vengeance after Hobbs killed his father on the bridge during Fast Five. The Rock discussed why he chose to return to the franchise, and he cited the eruption of fan reaction to Fast X’s stinger scene where we see Johnson’s return as Lucas Hobbs. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the new stand-alone Hobbs movie will neither be a sequel or a spin-off, but it’s rather being described as a “Fast X.5.”
The Hobbs Fast & Furious movie will be penned and produced Chris Morgan and produced by Johnson as well along his partners at Seven Bucks Productions who include Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Vin Diesel is also producing as well as Samantha Vincent via their company One Race production banner. Jeff Kirschenbaum through Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and Neal Moritz for Original Film are producing too.
Johnson states most importantly that he and Diesel have been brothers for years and just like siblings, they don’t see eye to eye sometimes. Johnson said that the franchise is bigger than both of them and that it’s time to bring it all together for…well…for family. I made sure not to know anything about any of this. R gore I saw Fast X and my wife can confirm that I was overly excited when Hobbs took his mask off to reveal himself.
