UPDATE: Jason Statham rides a Tsunami with harpoon at the ready in the new international poster for Meg 2: The Trench! Check out what will surely be one of the best action set pieces of the summer!

Now we’re talking! Who wants to see Jason Statham battle more megaladons and other sea creatures?! If you were a fan of the first one (and I was!), then it’s time to get your scuba gear and flippers on and head back into the ocean if you dare. Meg 2: The Trench is coming and this time The Stath is battling human enemies as well as the sea fairing kind for an all new and more violent action follow up! Did I forget to mention that international action star and Wolf Warrior alum Wu Jing is in it too?! Yep, get excited people because the trailer is now live!!!!

Synopsis: Dive into uncharted waters with Jason Statham and global action icon Wu Jing as they lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.

Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, and Page Kennedy return from the original along with Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Apocalypse), Skyler Samuels (The Gifted), Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Rambo: Last Blood). It’s going to be another drenched thrill ride with martial arts phenom Wu Jing headlining as well. Ben Wheatley took over directing duties this time around and it looks like he packs a bite helming.

August 4th is the date to be exact as the plot to the film is still a mystery. The author of the book, Steve Alten, has mentioned that this entry will definitely be darker in tone than the original and might even earn an R rating. This bodes well as Statham went on record saying that he thought the first film should have been more bloodier. It was still kick ass though and if the sequel gets more intense than the more the merrier. Well at least we know Statham karate kicks it because hey he’s Statham and these monsters better learn some RESPECT!

Now, we have this trailer for Jason’s Meg 2 so can we now finally see some fucking footage from Starham’s Expendables 4?! Is it too much to ask I mean come on people.

August 4th is the date as The Stath hops into his jet ski to hopefully stab an even bigger Meg in the eye with a harpoon!
