There is a new Transformers animated film on the horizon and for those of you that hold the original 1986 flick in high esteem will immediately be skeptical of a new treatment of these beloved characters. The film will be titled Transformers One and will be a prequel that will delve into the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
The filmmakers have recently announced a robust A-List cast of voice actors at CinemaCon including a few MCU alums and you can see the lucky participants below!
The highly anticipated animated Transformers movie will officially be an origin movie about the rivalry between the Autobots and Decepticons. The Transformers One cast includes Chris Hemsworth who will voice a young Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry will be a young Megatron, Scarlett Johansson will voice Elita, Keegan-Michael Key is Bumblebee, Jon Hamm is Sentinel Prime, and the one and only Laurence Fishburne is Alpha Trion. Now that’s a stacked cast!


“I’m so excited and proud to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring the first animated Transformers movie to theaters for a never-before-told story,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, who revealed the cast at CinemaCon.
There is next to nothing else known about the movie, but veteran Hollywood producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura did add fuel yo the fire and give us some juicy details about the film. di Bonaventura stated that the flick will be a true and not done before origin story of Megatron and Optimus Prime when they weee younger in the early days of the war. The two will actually start out as good friends but will eventually end up on opposing sides. The producer also stated that this time of ambitious story would be “financially impossible” to do live action and hence it will be animated. Per Collider
He goes on to reveal that not only is the movie an origin story but it will most likely be told in a “natural trilogy.” This is so they can properly explore everything that goes into this advanced Transformers world, including the planet Cybertron which we have only seen in the animated series as well for a few moments in live action.
