Frank Grillo Enlists for a Mystery Role in James Gunn’s DCU!

It would appear that the MCU has lost a major player to which the DCU has welcomed with open arms. It’s no secret that Frank Grillo was more than unhappy with how Kevin Feige and co handled his character of Brock Rumlow AKA Crossbones. The Marvel villain played a prominent part on Captain America: The Winter Soldier but was relegated to an afterthought in it subsequentl sequel Civil War. I would have to concur that Grillo was criminally underused.

Well, it appears that Grillo has jumped sides and has now announced, via interview, that he will be playing a mystery role in James Gunn’s new DCU. What role will he be playing? Villain? Hero? Anti-Hero? My money is on Anti-Hero as he has already done the villainous turn as Crossbones but we shall see.

Grillo spent the past few weeks teasing his fans of the impending announcement and made it official with a chat to ComicBook.com.

“They never told a story [about Crossbones]. The mythology of the MCU and just what Marvel has in its pool of characters, it’s so deep. Crossbones was there for a minute, but he was supposed to be there longer, then they went the direction they did,” Grillo tells us. “I think Crossbones serves a purpose, but I think the interesting thing is that if you see how many people around the world have responded to Crossbones, and again, he’s on the screen for a very f–king short amount of time, I think there’s more there. I think there was more meat on the bone. I was disappointed, which is why I went over to DC.”

Of course, speculations and rumors abound when this sort of thing happens especially in this day and age of dreaded social media. Both Grillo and Ron Pearlman, who were at the red carpet premiere of Shazam!: Fury of the Gods and it has since been rumored that both have been cast in Gunn’s upcoming Creature Commandos series. Take with grain of salt.

Grillo was screwed by the MCU and it’s just one of several complaints that I have being a comic book enthusiast with how they have treated certain individuals and projects. Marvel’s catastrophic loss is the DCU’s gain so hopefully the latter will use him efficiently.

Grillo is the hardest working man in Hollywood so I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up in more than one DCU project. Keep it Locked ‘N’ Loaded right here for more details to come as we are your destination for everything action!!!
