GLADIATOR 2: Denzel Washington in Talks to Reunite with Director Ridley Scott!

You will be entertained!!!! Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself as I’ve just received word that the one and only Denzel Washington is officially in talks to join Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel! If all goes well, Washington will join Paul Mescal who is set to play the lead.

According to official sources:

Mescal will lead the sequel to Ridley Scott’s action-drama, taking over the lead from Russell Crowe’s Maximus from the first film. Mescal plays Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), who is fully grown in the sequel. The story takes place several years after Maximus’ death in the original. Before he died, Maximus rescued Lucius and his mother from the clutches of the young man’s uncle, Commodus (Phoenix). The event left an impression on Lucius, who aspires to be as formidable as Maximus as he braves a harsh world.

Washington’s hopeful role is a mystery of course but Deadline did bring word that costume designer Janty Yates is returning to create even more elaborate outfits for that era. Washington will bring his can’t fail acting and steadfast gravitas to any role he will play and will assuredly command the screen in a major role if all goes as planned.

Lock ‘N’ Load right here for more details to come! “Are you not entertained!!!” Sorry, there I go again. God, how I do love the original and it’s Russel Crowe in his action frenzy prime!
