Cast & Synopsis Emerge for Fede Alvarez’s Upcoming ALIEN Film

It’s been awhile in the making ever since it was first announced but we now have a full cast and synopsis for the ninth upcoming film in the blockbuster Alien franchise. The newest entry sees the Evil Dead remake helmer Fede Alvarez taking over in the director’s chair and we now have a full and young cast announcement as well as a brief synopsis for the Xenomorph’s return.

According to THR, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu have enlisted for the movie and they join Cailee Spaeny who will be playing a Ripley type character in the new movie.

This now-ninth installment of the franchise will focus on a group of young people. On a distant colony, the group finds themselves in a fight for their lives with the titular alien, a creature known as a Xenomorph, whose race propagates by implanting eggs into people’s stomachs via face-huggers, with the juveniles eventually violently bursting out of the host’s chest. The new installment will also go the HULU route like last Summer’s Predator franchise film Prey. Original Alien franchise director Ridley Scott is involved in the movie as he will be producing via his Scott Free production banner. The 20th Century Studios movie will begin production in Budapest on March 9.

I’m still upset that Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn were never allowed to return in a follow up that was proposed by District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp. That one would have been a direct sequel to James Cameron‘s iconic Aliens and would have seen a battle weary Ripley and Hicks return to battle more Xenomorphs. This proposed film sounded way more kick ass than Prometheus and Alien: Covenant that Scott did. Both of those films underperformed at the box office to say the least.

Truth be told, I don’t have high hopes for this one either but only time will tell. I’m a big fan of Cameron’s Sci-Fi militaristic action hybrid as it is one of my top five all time favorite films and would love to see those elite hombres return. Oh well…

Lock ‘N’ Load right here at your destination for everything action for more details to come!

In the meantime, check out my all time favorite battle sequence from 1986’s classic Aliens! It’s a hyper-kinetic blend of rip roaring action and unadulterated horror.
