Remember last year when JCVD announced his retirement after one last great martial arts pic. Then shortly after, more and more film projects were announced featuring the action star. Anyway, I digress and with the EFM in full swing, we’ve been getting a lot of action cinema related news and Van Damme is represented well for his new upcoming feature Darkness of Man.

A new teaser poster has surfaced for the noirish action-thriller which hails from director James Cullen Bressack, who also penned the script with Alethea Cho with ideas from JC, and is best known for helming Beyond the Law with Seagal and the late, great DMX. Official Synopsis:

Set in Los Angeles, Darkness of Man sees Van Damme play Russell Hatch, an Interpol operative who takes on the role of father figure to Jayden, the son of an informant killed in a routine raid gone wrong. Years later, Hatch finds himself protecting Jayden and his uncle from a group of merciless gangs in an all-out turf war, stopping at nothing to protect Jayden and fight anyone getting in his way — including supposed allies with hidden agendas and nefarious intents.

Besides JC bring a draw, the movie boasts a sensational action genre cast including Eric Roberts (Best of the Best), Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210), Cynthia Rothrock (China O’Brien) and Van Damme’s own son Kris Van Damme (Black Water).

The movie which is being described as a “brutal Neo-Noir action film,” sees Van Damme will portray an Interpol agent who must protect a young boy when his father, an informant, is killed during a raid gone awry.
