Well, for better or worse (and personally, I think they’ve made some heinous calls so far) James Gunn and Warner Bros have announced their first slate of DC film and television projects. In a private press event held on the lot of the film company, Gunn gave us our first glimpse into what he will be doing to revamp the chaos that is the DCEU.

Gunn mentioned that the goal is to release Shazam: Fury of the Gods and then head into The Flash. After that, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit in December and then surprisingly, a new Superman movie, titled Superman: Legacy (which will be written by Gunn himself) will launch.

There has been no cast announced as of yet but expect a younger Man of Steel. The film does have a release date of July 11th, 2025. Another important note is that The Batman-Part II which sees Robert Pattinson returning will also see a release date of October 3rd, 2025.

Superman: Legacy will be the first feature produced by Gunn’s team and will be the opening salvo in what Gunn affectionately calls Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Who will play Kal-El is anybody’s guess but personally, I think they dropped the ball big time when they reintroduced Henry Cavill at the end of Black Adam only to let him go shortly after. Don’t get me started on Batgirl. Also, I would have like to have seen more of The Rock’s indestructible God but he’s not in the cards at least for now. Also, Gal Gadot is out as Wonder Woman as a new series is coming that is going to be a prequel. Jason Momoa is safe as Aquaman and has teased good things ahead for him.
Another takeaway is that a new Batman film is coming too which will be a father/son affair taken from The Brave and the Bold. The film will serve as an introduction to the new Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder who will be father and son. Of course, who will play them will be a mystery for a while.
