Gerard Butler’s latest action offering Plane has been getting some pretty solid reviews and I for one enjoyed the film as it’s a departure for Butler who doesn’t play the average action hero. I’ve always said that Butler is the old school style action hero we need these days and he’s ready to strike again in just a few more months.
Deadline has brought official word that Butler‘s survival epic Kandahar is readying for a Memorial Day Weekend release. The movie reunites Butler with his Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh and looks to be another solid entry in Butler’s action filmography arsenal.

The Mitchell LaFortune and Waugh penned script follows Tom Harris (Butler) who is an undercover CIA operative in Kandahar.
He’s stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down. Per Deadline
Butler shares the screen with a supporting cast which includes Navid Negahban, Ali Fazal, Vikings’ Travis Fimmel and Elnaaz Norouzi.
Expect a trailer to drop soon as Kandahar will hit theaters on May 26th courtesy of Open Road Pictures.
