Donnie Yen may be in his late 50’s but the international action star is still moving ahead at the speed of light in terms of projects. With his rescue thriller Come Back Home now making its way into Chinese theaters, Yen is already on to his next big thing which sees him starring in as well as producing, directing and serving as fight coordinator.
Yen may have said goodbye to the traditional Kung Fu genre but he hasn’t hung it up when it comes to period epics such as his latest titled Śakra. The film is currently rolling in front of the cameras and new sales art introduced at the AFM looks absolutely bad ass with Yen featured prominently taking on several assailants with sword in hand. A fitting cover for the action and martial arts icon. Check it out below!

Yen introduced the image on social media and made a statement in regards to the film which will see him playing “a tragic hero accused of killing his adoptive parents”. Not much else is known about the film but it is based off Louis Cha’s novel, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils which has seen several adaptations in the past.
WuXia is the most important genre in Chinese cinema, Sakra (adapted by Louis Cha, the most influential and famous Chinese novelists in recent decades)is my latest and most challenging ambitious movie. As the Actor, producer and director, I’m so proud to announce and showcase our film in this year’s cover at AFM, Yen stated on social media.
Yen has several other projects in the works as well including the highly anticipated blockbuster sequel John Wick 4 which hits theaters on March 24th of next year. That one is destined to be an action movie fan’s dream pitting Yen in such good company including Keanu Reeves, Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror and Hiroyuki Sanada.
There is also the long delayed video game adaptation Sleeping Dogs to which Yen is still looking to get off and running. There’s no news on that front unfortunately but hopefully it still happens.
In the meantime, keep it locked and loaded right here for more updates as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
