Actress Joey King is usually known for starring a host of rom coms which deal with teen angst and love. How do I know this? Because I live in a house with four women. King is looking to destroy her innocent cred with her latest project The Princess which sees here battle ready and bloodied as she stars as a woman betrothed to a sociopathic killer intent on taking over everything. To make this one enticing for the action genre fans, the film was helmed by Le Van Kiet who is a Vietnamese filmmaker best known for directing the bone crunching female led action pic Furie starring Veronica Ngo who also has a role here kicking ass per usual.

A new trailer has dropped from HULU which will debut the movie this July 1st so check out King in action below as she goes full on action star because, you know, they f@cked with the wrong princess!

Official Synopsis: When a strong-willed princess refuses to wed the cruel sociopath, she is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower of her father’s castle. With her vindictive suitor intent on taking her father’s throne, the princess must save the kingdom.

Also starring Dominic Cooper (Preacher), who looks devious as hell, and Olga Kurylenko (Black Widow), it finally appears that I will have a Joey King film to watch with my ladies that I will be able to tolerate as this is right in my wheelhouse. There’s no shortage of action set pieces here featuring King and Ngo going full on sword and sandal. Not to mention that it’s Rated R for strong, bloody violence and there is some serious empty-handed fight choreography here which just screams of Kiet’s trademark bad assery. Maybe I won’t have my 7-year-old partake in this one. King might be a princess, but she is no damsel in distress as she flat out destroys the competition with Ngo who looks to have some bloody, shining moments of her own. I’ll be watching!

The Princess premieres on HULU on July 1st! Bow to no one!
