UPDATE: Just a day after the news that CBS has picked up the True Lies reboot series, they have now officially released a new trailer. This gives fans a first look at what to expect from the new show which takes its cues from the 1994 James Cameron helmed actioner which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. ORIGINAL POST: It’s been a long and winding road ever since it was announced that a TV series would be created that was based on the hit 1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger action-comedy classic True Lies but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Deadline is reporting that CBS, after much heated debate with 20th Century Television, has officially picked up a series order for the show. Many complications derailed the show for quite some time but it is finally going to happen whether you want it to or not. Take a look at the first look image below!

Official Synopsis: “In the series, an incomplete suburban housewife (Ginger Gonzaga) is shocked to discover that her kind and unremarkable computer consultant husband (Steve Howe) is a skilled international spy. She is pushed into a life full of danger and adventure when she is recruited to work with him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionate marriage.” Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O’Gorman, Annabella Didion, and Lucas Jaye also star.”

Steve Howe takes over Arnie’s role in the series while Ginger Gonzaga is channeling Jamie Lee Curtis’ role. I remember Howe from his days on the hit comedy show Reba where he basically played a good ball but then he surprised me when he showed up on SEAL TEAM as an ex-SEAL hooked on drugs. That stint gives me confidence that he can both play out the comedy aspects as well as the action and drama.

James Cameron, who helmed the film, will serve as an executive producer on the project along with McG. This bodes well I guess that Cameron is involved in some capacity so we shall see.

Also starring are ERICA HERNANDEZ, OMAR MILLER, MIKE O’GORMAN, ANNABELLA DIDION and LUCAS JAYE.
