By: John M Jerva

All hail the king. Deadline is reporting that Apple TV+ has just aacquired the rights that will enable them to create a new series featuring Godzilla and the Titans. Legendary Films’ Monsterverse will be the subject of a show that will center on a family and their efforts to uncover a mystery surrounding the Monarch organization and the legacy that connects them to it.

Official Synopsis Per Deadline: Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

All Hail the King….

There have been heated talks on bringing the Monsterverse to series after Godzilla Vs. Kong was one of the first blockbusters in the pandemic era. The new series will be produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by co-creators Chris Black who will also pull duties as show runner.

Just how much Godzilla and the Titans will feature in the series remains to be seen as the price tag for the ambitious show will certainly be high. Hopefully, they will give the fans what they want as I feel they wouldn’t do this without the true stars fanboys want to see. After all, it’s always been about the Kaiju.

This still definitely bodes well for fans of the Toho Co. slate of monsters as the future was up in the air after Godzilla: King of the Monsters was met with lukewarm reviews and a box office take that didn’t reach expectations. Godzilla Vs. Kong’s box office success definitely set in motion this deal that will see Toho’s Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce. Toho is the owner of the Godzilla IP and they licensed the rights to Legendary to further the universe and all the Titans that inhabit it.

Legendary’s Monsterverse started off in 2014 with Godzilla and continued with Kong: Skull Island in 2017, Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019 and topping off with the fantastic Godzilla Vs. Kong in 2021. In all, the movies have massed a monstrous $2 billion at the worldwide box office.

A new Kong movie is in development also along with an animated Skull Island series so fans will have much to celebrate as the future looks bright for the King of Monsters and his entourage.

Godzilla Vs. Kong was a definite highlight for me this year as it exceeded all my lofty expectations and more and it made it into the top 5 of my Best of 2021 list of course. I’ve been a fan of all these classic Kaiju monsters since I was at least 5 years old so my inner child is definitely grinning from ear to ear.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more details to hit in the future as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
