By: John M Jerva

“The mother of all action films” is on it’s way as we have new 411 on an upcoming over the top actioner titled Attack which stars Bollywood heavyweight John Abraham. The film is promising to up the action ante and we’ve got some juicy details for you in terms of plot and expectations.

According to the site Box Office Worldwide, Attack will feature Abraham as:

A robotic character in this hardcore action film, which is a first for the Hindi film industry. According to sources close to the project, Abraham will portray a mercenary soldier with superhuman abilities in this suspenseful thriller set against a hostage scenario. His character is said to be a cross between Deadpool and G.I. Joe, and it will feature him in some never-before-seen daredevil, high-octane action sequences choreographed by international stunt coordinator Ryan Sturz of Captain Marvel fame.

A cross between GI Joe and Deadpool?! Where do I sign? Bollywood action films have certainly set a precedent in the action genre category with actors like Tiger Schroff and Vidyut Jammwal leading the charge. These guys defy gravity in numerous jaw dropping action set pieces and Abraham looks to throw his hat in the ring.

Attack is based on a hypothetical attack on the Parliament in which numerous people are kept hostage. The rescue mission is led by John Abraham, who leads a “Attack squad,” and the rest of the film is a race against time.

Making her directorial debut with Attack is Lakshya Raj Anand with Abraham serving as producer so it’ll be interesting to see how this one turns out with a newcomer at the helm. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Prakash Raj and reports are saying that this one is looking to set up a massive action franchise.

Attack was delayed multiple times like so many other movies due to the pandemic but now it’s set to hit domestically in India on Republic Day. No international release dates of been set as of now but we’ll keep you informed as usual.

In the meantime, check out a few teaser trailers below. They aren’t in English but like I always say, action translates in any language. There’s no shortage of cheesy action and Abraham walking in super slo-mo as explosions and bullets fly all around him. You have to hand it to Bollywood as they are definitely unapologetic when it comes to insane visuals and stunts.
