MGM Wins Bidding War for the Untitled Jason Momoa/Dave Bautista LETHAL WEAPON Style Buddy Action Pic

By: John M Jerva

The movie doesn’t have a title, plot, director or a full cast to think of it but it has Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista attached to it so that was good enough for MGM. The movie studio won a colossal bidding war for the movie which will star Momoa and Bautista in a described Lethal Weapon style buddy cop movie. I have to admit that it does sound pretty damn good.

The duo of stars have been pitching the movie heavily recently and Jonathan Tropper is attached to write the script. Bautista and Momoa are good friends and are starring together in the current Apple Plus TV series See. The story comes from an original idea from the trio and it is said that Momoa and Bautista will be payed well when the film ultimately goes into production. Sources say that the film won’t shoot until 2023 so don’t hold your breath waiting for it.

Per Deadline: Essentially, the pitch calls for the duo to play brothers in a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy cop comedy likely to shoot in Hawaii. The stampede to get the duo began with an August 19 Tweet by Bautista: “Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go…Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.”

You know you have clout when you just tweet about an idea for a movie and the rest of Hollywood jumps at it in real Battle Royale fashion. Momoa appeared on The Late Late show with James Corden and talked about the hit idea. You can see the video below.

Is it me or does Jason Momoa look like one of the coolest cats in the industry? I’m sure we’ll hear more about this film in the near future so keep it locked and loaded right here for future 411 as we are your destination for everything action!
