Fans of the cult action-thriller franchise The Boondock Saints have much cause for celebration today as it is being reported that Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and Sean Patrick Flanery (Assault on VA-33) will reunite with franchise creator and helmer Troy Duffy for the long awaited third movie in the series.
Deadline broke the news today and it was stated that both Flanery and Duffy have penned the script for the threequel which will go in front of the cameras next May.
Expectations are high as word is that the powers that be want to turn The Boondock Saints into a John Wick style action franchise. The first two films are a definite acquired taste so it’ll be interesting to see how the series develops in the future.
The original film saw “the saga of fraternal twin Irish brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus, who go on a vigilante track. That starts after they dispatch two Russian mobsters in self defense, and then have an epiphany to rid their Boston hometown of all crime, while being hunted by an FBI agent (Willem Dafoe) who can’t help but admire their cause.”
The Exchange is bringing the anticipated third film to the American Film Market this week and Reedus and Flanery will also serve as executive producers on the movie. Nat McCormick of The Exchange and Todd Myers of Dragonfly Films will also serve as executive producers.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for future 411 as the MacManus brothers are ready to lock and load once more. We are your destination for everything action!
