It looks like there’s some traction finally on the long delayed John Wick spin-off Ballerina which was teased in John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum. Reports coming from Deadline are saying that No Time to Die co-star Ana de Armas is in active negotiations to play the title role in the film which is set to be helmed by Underworld director Len Wiseman.
The spin-off film will center around a female assassin, teased in John Wick 3, who goes out for revenge against the nefarious forces that killed her family. Shay Hatten, who penned the third John Wick film along with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, is writing the script.
Lionsgate is bringing the film to the AFM along with John Wick 4. Chad Stahelski, who helmed all three John Wick films is serving as a producer and the budget is reportedly somewhere in the $50 million to $90 million range which is a nice one for a film like this.
There is no word on whether Keanu Reeves will make a cameo in the film but many are hoping that he will along with Angelica Huston.
Along with the latest James Bond film, de Armas will also be seen in Netflix’s The Gray Man which stars Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling. The big budget Netflix pic is currently in post production and hails from The Russo Brothers.
