NOGALES: Michael Jai White Fights His Past and for a Future in the New Action-Thriller Now in Production

By: John M Jerva

It dawned on me today that I haven’t shared any news about Michael Jai White in a while. The actor, martial artist and action star is a favorite here at Action-Flix and will next be seen in the movies The Commando which pits him against Mickey Rourke and the WWII epic Come Out Fighting also starring Tyrese Gibson. Let’s not forget about the western The Outlaw Johnny Black which White also wrote and directed which is in the vein of his Black Dynamite. White’s plate is certainly full but we have another action project currently in production to put on your radar that stars the man of action.

Tentatively titled Nogales, White stars from a script he also wrote as a man with a violent past who befriends a young teen while trying to run from his other life which catches up to him with violent results. The film is being directed by R. Ellis Frazier, who also directed other action fare like Misfire and Rumble with Gary Daniels as well as Larceny with Dolph Lundgren.

Official Synopsis: Bryant (Michael Jai White), a man with a mysterious past moves to a small Mexican border-town to start over and live the simple life. While there, he reluctantly befriends a troubled local teen who has recently lost his mother and is being recruited by the local street gang. Shane keeps the boy on the straight and narrow by introducing him to martial arts and taking on the role of mentor, teacher and father-figure. As the story unfolds we learn that Shane is much more than a man who moved to Mexico to live the simple life. Shane is running from a complex, violent past that he believes he left behind. As his past catches up with him, he is forced into a life and death struggle to clear his name, save the boy and get back all that he left behind. Per IMDb

Veteran fight coordinator, director, stuntman and all around bad ass Art Camacho is directing the action on this one and he shared a photo of himself and White prepping for an action sequence on location.

As you can see from the pic, White is brandishing a pair of large blades so you can definitely expect some fight action especially with Camacho involved.

The film also stars Michael Copon, Roberto ‘Sanz’ Sanchez, Roberto ‘Sanz’ Sanchez and Gabriela Quezada.

Hopefully, Nogales will see a 2022 release and be sure to check back here when first footage drops along with any new info.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come in the future as we are your destination for everything action.
