Update: The international trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has debuted which features some newer footage not seen in the domestic theatrical trailer.

(Original Post) The new Resident Evil film which is titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City isn’t connected to Paul W.S. Anderson’s series of films with wife and star Milla Jovovich but it is said to be a reboot that will be connected to the first two video games. Set for a theatrical release on November 24th, a new and official horror infused trailer is now online along with new and menacing key art!

Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever… changed… and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

The new film stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, Donal Logue as Chief Brian Irons, Chad Rook as Richard Aiken, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, Nathan Dale as Brad Vickers, and Marina Mazepa as Lisa Trevor.

Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) helms from a script he also written and you can see both similarities and differences to the first set of films. The horror is definitely amped up to the tenth level but the action set pieces are there as well.

I am a fan of the bombastic franchise that preceded this installment and even though it went way over the top and was redundant in places, it’s a fun and bloody time at the movies. This low key approach to the reboot will certainly set it apart from the other franchise. One thing is evident, the violence and gore are present and accounted for to satisfy genre fans.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more on Resident Evil as we are your destination for everything action and horror/action!!!!
