As we saw in the post credits scene of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, John Cena’s character of Peacemaker survived the ordeal set forth in the movie and is getting his own spin-off series. The HBOMAX show will delve deeper into the mythos of Peacemaker and we have an official 1st clip from the show which is set to debut next January.
In the clip below, Cena’s Peacemaker makes a grand entrance as he introduces himself to fellow cast members. We also see that he has a pet Eagle named fittingly enough Eagley. We also learn why he wears his uniform most of the time.
Aside from Cena, The Peacemaker also stars Steve Agee (The Suicide Squad, Superstore), Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black, Close Enough), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Perry Mason) as Auggie Smith, Jennifer Holland (Brightburn, American Horror Story) as Emilia Harcourt, and Chris Conrad (Perpetual Grace, LTD., Patriot) as Vigilante.
Other cast members include Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Chukwudi Iwuji (The Underground Railroad), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christoper Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels, Supernatural), Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Goliath), Nhut Le (The Kroll Show) as DC hero Judomaster, Aison Araya (Arrow) as Amber, and Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie) as Evan. This is quite the cast and it’ll be interesting to see how much screen time is given to each.
Gunn, who directed the popular soft reboot of The Suicide Squad also returns to helm five of the eight episodes included in the first season. Peacemaker will hit HBOMAX this January.
