Obviously last Tuesday’s tease wasn’t enough and even though this trailer still leaves things a mystery, we now have our first official trailer for The Matrix Resurrections which features the iconic return of Keanu Reeves’ Neo. Watch with delight below!

From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski comes “The Matrix Resurrections,” the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise that redefined a genre. The new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity.

Keanu Reeves returns with Carrie Anne-Moss and they are joined by returning cast member Jada Pinkett Smith, who are reprising their roles as Neo, Trinity, and Niobe. Newcomers include Christina Ricci, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who has since confirmed on Instagram that he is playing a younger version of Morpheus. Check out his post below which features a gnarly still of him unloading with a few weapons.

Plot details are scarce still but with the title and footage description, it most likely will deal with Anderson bring resurrected and becoming reacquainted with the world of The Matrix. The trailer does show Neo and Trinity with a massive case of amnesia and not knowing who each other are so evidently this is a strong plot line that will be hit upon. It also shows the grand spectacle of imagery and special effects that have made the original franchise a hit and this one looks to up the ante even more.

The movie was originally set for a May 21, 2021 release, but The Matrix Resurrections is now set to launch in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
