It looks like Kevin Feige and Marvel have found their Director for the upcoming MCU reboot of Blade starring Mahershala Ali. It appears, according to Deadline, that Bassam Tariq is in active talks to helm the project which will see Stacy Osei-Kuffour penning the script.

The new Blade was first announced at the 2019 SDCC when Ali made a surprise appearance at that year’s Marvel panel but not much traction has been made about it ever since. There have been speculation upon speculation on when and where Ali will make his grand entrance but nothing concrete has been made.

Feige will produce of course and the search for a director has been ongoing for months so it appears that Tariq is in the final running.

Ali has also been seen in Netflix’s Luke Cage and approached Marvel about playing the Daywalker that was first famously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the first trilogy of films. Tariq is best known for his work on Mogul Mowgli.
