At this point, Gerard Butler is the new Frank Grillo as one could make the case for both actors as being the hardest working men in the film industry. Grillo is literally in every other movie announced and now Butler is giving him a run for his money. It’s only fitting that both stars will appear together in this fall’s Copshop.

With that we have news of another Gerard Butler led actioner titled Chase which sees the Has Fallen action star playing a man who is on a quest to find his missing better half. The new film which just recently wrapped production also stars Jaimie Alexander of Thor and Blindspot fame as well as Creed II’s Russell Hornsby and Ethan Embry best known for First Man. Brian Goodman helms the pic which just saw Voltage Pictures acquire for international rights. First look footage is said to be coming soon as Voltage will team up with CAA for U.S. rights as well.

Per Variety: “Chase” centers on Will Spann (Butler), who is driving his soon-to-be ex-wife Lisa (Alexander) to her parents’ home when she mysteriously disappears without a trace during a stop at a gas station.

A frantic Will engages the local police and Lisa’s parents in a desperate attempt to find her, but as time passes and suspicion falls on him, he must take matters into his own hands, delving into the town’s criminal underbelly while running from the authorities in a race against time to find Lisa.

Michael Irby, who I loved in the short lived TV series The Unit, also stars along with Cindy Hogan and Bruce Altman with Marc Frydman, Brian Pitt, Alan Siegel and Butler serving as producers.

“We could not be more excited to partner with Gerry, Alan, Marc and Brian on this wildly commercial film,” said Voltage Pictures CEO Jonathan Deckter. “Gerry has been and continues to be one of the most bankable movie stars on the planet and we can’t wait to share this film with our partners the world over.”

Butler is one of my favorite action leading men and I’ve always said that his Mike Banning character from the Has Fallen franchise is this generation’s John McClane. He’s a no nonsense, take no prisoners type of actor and his gravitas is apparent in each and every role.

Butler is also appearing in a sequel to Greenland and has the aforementioned COPSHOP waiting in the wings this September.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more as we are your destination for everything action!
