Fans missing Kate Beckinsale kicking ass as the vampire Selene in the Underworld franchise are about to get some good news. It’s not another Underworld film unfortunately but it still is Beckinsale kicking glorious amounts of ass in Amazon’s new actioner Jolt.
First look images have officially arrived as the movie is about to see the light of day starting on July 23rd.
Helmed by Tanya Wexler from a script written by Scott Wascha, Jolt also boasts a pretty impressive cast that includes Bobby Cannavale, Jai Courtney, Laverne Cox, David Bradley, Ori Pfeffer, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci.
Check out Beckinsale strutting her action stuff in the new images below!
Official Synopsis: Jolt centers around Lindy, a beautiful, sardonically-funny woman with a painful secret: Due to a lifelong, rare neurological disorder, she experiences sporadic rage-filled, murderous impulses that can only be stopped when she shocks herself with a special electrode device. Unable to find love and connection in a world that fears her bizarre condition, she finally trusts a man long enough to fall in love, only to find him murdered the next day. Heartbroken and enraged, she embarks on a revenge-filled mission to find his killer, while also being pursued by the police as the crime’s prime suspect.
David Bernardi and Les Weldon produced the film via their Millennium Media production banner as well as Sherryl Clark. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Jeffrey Greenstein, and Jonathan Yunger also produced the movie through Millennium Media.
“Jolt is a kick-ass and painfully funny script,” Wexler said back in an interview held in April of 2019. “When I saw that Kate Beckinsale was attached to play the lead, I jumped at the opportunity to make the movie. This is the movie for right now — a revenge-action film for every woman (and man) who wants to turn their inner ‘Thelma & Louise’ up to 11.”
Producer Jeffrey Greenstein also elaborated on Jolt and what it and Beckinsale will bring to the collective action table:
“Jolt is just that. A shock to the system, and this film promises to be a wicked cocktail of action, humor, and style. I believe that this is the start of a fun franchise, and I am eager to see our director Tanya Wexler and star Kate Beckinsale bring this badass character and story to life. And it’s great to team up again with our friend and talented producer Sherryl Clark.”
Beckinsale was solid as the vampire warrior Selene in the Underworld films and demonstrated on many occasion that she could deliver the stunts and double gun action. Sporting some new blonde locks, it looks like she just might be channeling a little bit of her famous character in this new feature.
With a launch date set for a streaming release on July 23rd, expect a first look trailer to arrive at anytime.
