Well it’s not Scott Adkins but it’s damn good enough as action and martial arts legend Donnie Yen is ready to take some headshots alongside Keanu Reeves for John Wick 4!
According to Deadline, who broke the news, Yen will play a fellow assassin who is an ally of Wick and who has the same set of enemies. You know what that means? Yen and Reeves are gonna kick some major ass on the same side.
“We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise,” said director Chad Stahelski. “I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role.”
Yen has been a staple in modern action cinema for decades and is best known for his powerhouse kicking ability and his charisma in numerous period martial arts films as well as modern day potboilers.
Yen will star as “an old friend of Reeves’ super assassin John Wick, who shares his same history and many of the same enemies.”
John Wick 4 was penned by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch, with producing credits going to Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Stahelski, with Reeves and Louise Rosner executive producers.
The fourth entry will finally go in front of the camera this summer with a very ambitious shoot that includes locations in France, Germany and Japan. Yen’s casting is announced on the heels of Japanese-British pop superstar Rina Sawayama being named in a lead role earlier this week.
