Randy Couture Sheds New Hope on THE EXPENDABLES 4 in a New Interview

By: John M Jerva

Yeah I know I’m glutton for punishment and at this point and any mention of a fourth Expendables film should immediately be met with the fiercest of skepticism. If that’s the case, then why do I keep posting about it as every new mention of a new entry falls by the wayside never to be heard of again. Well I guess it’s like Ben Affleck in the new version of Justice League when he simply says “faith.” I have a lot of it so I continue to think positive about the subject.

One of the franchise’s stars who happens to be former MMA champ turned actor Randy Couture who plays Toll Road has continuously mentioned that a new film is in the works and just recently in a new interview with Jenna Ben, Couture filled us all with hope once again and fanned the flames again of a proposed fourth entry.

In the lengthy interview, which you can see below, Couture mentions that a script is being worked on and that filming could commence this fall or next.

“It sounds like we’re gonna get to do [Expendables] 4,”Couture stated when asked about a new entry. “They’ve been kicking it around for a couple of years now but I’ve just recently heard from my agent that they’re working on the script for [Expendables] 4 and they’re planning to schedule filming for Expendables 4 for this/next fall. So I haven’t seen the script yet. They had one a couple of years ago that they were talking about making Expendables 4 out of, and then it [the previous script] got away. You just never know, it’s such a weird business sometimes.”

Since the last installment came out years ago, there have been countless stories of a fourth film but at this point it’s the Hollywood equivalent to a Big Foot sighting. Stallone himself has stirred the fires before and has backtracked relentlessly in the past so who knows at this point. Stallone just recently announced on social media that he’s not returning as Rocky in Creed 3 which will be helmed by star Michael B. Jordan. Maybe he’ll return for this one but your guess is as good as mine.

The latest incarnation of a fourth film had Jason Statham, who plays Lee Christmas in the franchise, taking over for Stallone while Sly would be more of a supporting player. The movie even had a title which was A Christmas Story and I, for one, was all for it just as long as they went back to an R rated formula like the first two movies. It sounds like that idea has been abandoned as well and it could be the script that got away but for more on that version of the story, click the link below:

So once again, we are teased with a fourth film and I personally think that ship has sailed but you never know and hopefully we will get at least one more mission with our favorite gang of Mercs. I’m in the minority of fans who liked the third film but even though I did, I know it’s flawed and I would love to see the series go out on a blood soaked high note.

Needless to say, keep it locked and loaded right here for more as we are your destination for everything action!
