By: John M Jerva

Fans of Netflix’s martial arts saga series Wu Assassins have much to celebrate today as it was announced via the trades that the one season series will see a continuation in the form of a standalone film title Fistful of Vengeance! Uwais mentioned in his Art Of Action interview with Scott Adkins that there would be a movie sequel to the series and now we have confirmation.

Per Variety and THR who broke the news, Mortal Kombat’s Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, and JuJu Chan Szeto are set to return for the movie while new cast additions include Pearl Thusi, Francesca Corney, Jason Tobin, and Rhatha Phongam to round it out.

Roel Reiné (Redbad, Hard Target 2) is set to helm the follow up. The series debuted in 2019 on the streaming service and many had been led to believe that the show was one and done but now with the announcement of the movie, it is also being reported that Netflix is still open to a possible second season and/or more films in the franchise. Cameron Litvack, Jessica Chou, and Yalun, who all penned the first season, are returning to write the film with Living Films producing.

The official synopsis for Fistful of Vengeance reads: Fistful of Vengeance will find the Wu Assassins reuniting in Bangkok to avenge the death of one of their own. They soon discover, however, that their new adversary is an ancient threat with otherworldly powers.

Coincidentally, Tan is set to be seen next in Warner Bros Mortal Kombat reboot set to hit on April 16th and it was just announced that the ten band trailer for the movie is the most watched red band trailer of all time with 116 million views in its first week alone.
