Is Billy the Kid Set to Ride Again in YOUNG GUNS 3?!

By: John M Jerva

I’m a huge fan of both Young Guns films which featured Emilio Estevez, his brother Charlie Sheen and a host of young Hollywood talent at the time, and this might just be the biggest news ever. It appears that there is a third film in development and the source is the writer of the two movies himself John Fusco who posted a less than cryptic post on social media. To make things even more exciting, he included a teaser poster of the project which is tentatively titled Young Guns III: Alias: Billy the Kid. Check out the tantalizing post and key art below!

The original films also starred Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips as well as Dermot Mulroney and Casey Siemaszko. Other well known actors included Christian Slater and William Peterson. To make things interesting, Fusco tagged Phillips, and Sutherland along with Slater along with Chris Pratt and Vincent D’Onofrio who weren’t in the movies but were in The Magnificent Seven remake with Denzel Washington. It could seem that Fusco is looking to include them in the sequel.

Now we all know that most of the original cast was not alive at the end of either one or two so it’ll be interesting to see who they do get to be included as well as who’ll be the next generation of young guns. I’m all in either way so this is definitely on my radar. It’s time to break out Blaze Of Glory by Jon Bon Jovi once again.

In the post on Twitter, Fusco stated “Emilio Estevez and I are excited to be collaborating on this continuation of the Billy the Kid saga – and you’re going to love where it goes.”

On Facebook, Fusco elaborated even more by saying:

Emilio Estevez and I have kept this under wraps for a long time while researching, writing, scouting locations in Mexico and New Mexico, and pulling together a killer cast that will see several of the original characters returning in their later years plus some exciting new casting. Regulators, Mount Up. And stand by for more news soon.

The original movie’s synopsis reads:

John Tunstall (Terence Stamp), a distinguished British gentleman, employs downtrodden youths to tend his herd on the New Mexican frontier. When Tunstall is gunned down by the crooked Lawrence G. Murphy (Jack Palance), a ragtag group of cow hands — including Doc Scurlock (Kiefer Sutherland), Richard Brewer (Charlie Sheen) and young William “Billy the Kid” Bonney (Emilio Estevez) — ride forth in search of bloody vengeance for the death of their beloved mentor.

While the sequel Young Guns II reads:

En route to Mexico from the United States, Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) and his associates are pursued by federal agents hell‑bent on bringing them to justice. But when Billy, Doc (Kiefer Sutherland) and Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips) prove too difficult to track down, the frustrated authorities enlist an old friend of theirs, reformed outlaw Pat Garrett …

Needless to say, I’ll be standing by for more news on this and here’s hoping it comes soon. Seeing both movies in the theaters as a kid was a highlight and I watch them to this day. They are probably two of my favorite westerns ever. Stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here as we are your destination for everything action!!!

Regulators! Mount up!!!!!

Check out the original trailers for both movies below along with the intro from the first film that still gives me goosebumps to this day!
