BOSS LEVEL: Hulu Set to Unleash the Wild Actioner Starring Frank Grillo & Mel Gibson on March 5th!

By: John M Jerva

It’s time to level up! The highly anticipated, and I do mean highly, action-thriller Boss Level from director Joe Carnahan finally has a premiere date as Hulu announced that the Frank Grillo-Mel Gibson led action pic will be unleashed on March 5th exclusively on the streaming service.

Hulu also released an official synopsis for the Groundhog Day style movie that sees Grillo playing an ex-special forces soldier reliving his death every day at the hands of a group of assassins.

Trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder, former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) uncovers clues about a secret government project that could unlock the mystery behind his untimely death. In a race against the clock, Pulver must hunt down Colonel Ventor (Mel Gibson), the powerful head of the government program, while outrunning skilled ruthless assassins determined to keep him from the truth in order to break out of the loop, save his ex-wife (Naomi Watts) and live once again for tomorrow.

Starring along with Grillo and Gibson are Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Jeong, Annabelle Wallis, Will Sasso, Meadow Williams, Mathilde Ollivier, Selina Lo, Tyler Jon Olson, Sheaun McKinney, and John Cenatiempo. Carnahan directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Chris Borey and Eddie Borey. Grillo also serves as a producer with Carnahan via their newly formed War Party productions banner.

In anticipation for the movie to finally be released (it was supposed to receive a theatrical launch last year), Grillo spoke with EW and talked about what fans can expect from this all out adrenaline rush that is essentially a video game on steroids.

It’s a full-blown action movie, it’s funny, and then it becomes a bit dramatic. . “You don’t get bored at any time,” he told EW. “Joe did it in a way that worked.”

Grillo went on to elaborate on his character of Roy Pulver and explained the regiment he went on to physically get him ready for the action and stunt filled movie.

I wanted to look like a character in a video game, that was the theory,” Grillo said to Entertainment Weekly. “I went on a crazy diet for four months, I lifted weights three times a day, I got myself down to about four percent body fat and then I realized, why am I doing this? Why does this character need to look like this? But it was too late.”

Needless to say this movie is on my list to see and I had the opportunity to interview Eric Eterabi who has a role as one of the killers in the movie. I’m gonna release that chat in March when the movie hits so keep on eye out for it.

Hopefully, Hulu drops a trailer soon and you’ll see it here so keep it locked and loaded right here as we are your destination for everything action!
