Just a few hours ago, I shared the news that Warner Bros. has decided to release their full 2021 schedule on HBOMAX the same day that they hit theaters. Included in the mix is the long awaited reboot to the blockbuster video game franchise Mortal Kombat which stars a host of fight talent including Joe Taslim from The Raid films.
We have more official news for you in that the official logo has dropped for the film which promises to be brutal and ultra-violent just like the video game and unlike the two previous film versions. Check out the rad new art below!
The logo was revealed on social media in droves and it is far superior to the earlier red colored version that we got.
The film stars a host of action talent including Jessica McNamee (THE MEG) as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Lewis Tan (WU Assassins) in an undisclosed role as well as THE RAID star Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion. Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin who will be playing th role of Liu Kang. He is best known for appearing in 2017’s Power Rangers reboot as Zack Taylor and also appeared in Wan’s Aquaman.
The major plot is still a secret but we do know that it will be about a “a male protagonist who becomes drawn into the interdimensional tournament, and begins to realize his true potential as a result.”
James Wan is producing the flick with Simon McQuoidis directing and we don’t have a release date yet but we do know that the film will unleash in 2021 in theaters and on HBOMAX on the same day.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come as we are your destination for everything action and Fatalities! Fight!
