Well here’s some interesting news to report as just a day after Warner Bros. announced that Wonder Woman 84 would hit theaters on Christmas Day along with a debut on HBOMAX at the same time, Sony is challenging it with Monster Hunter which moves up five days.
The video game adaptation was supposed to hit on the 30th but now will see a release on the same day as the comic book flick. This is an interesting move but it looks like the studios are trying their best to feed new content to cinemas who are struggling to stay afloat.
Monster Hunter centers on the leader of a UN military team named Artemis, played by Jovovich, who is transported to another realm populated by monsters. There she meets the Hunter (Jaa), with the two teaming up to close a portal to prevent monsters from attacking earth.
Milla Jovovich stars along with action superstar Tony Jaa along with Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Drive), T.I. Harris (Ant-Man and The Wasp), Diego Boneta (Luis Miguel, Rock of Ages), Meagan Good (Code Black), and Josh Helman (X-Men: Days of Future Past). Paul W.S. Anderson helms the pic which sees him directing Jovovich, his wife, once again as the two worked together on the Resident Evil series.
A new international trailer has also dropped which gives fans a new look at the movie and you can see it directly below!
So be sure to check out both Monster Hunter and Wonder Woman ‘84 this Christmas and support the theaters!
