AMBUSH: Aaron Eckhart’s Vietnam Era Actioner Acquired by Saban Films Readies for a Fall Shoot in Columbia!

By: John M Jerva

I reported on the new film Ambush months ago which is set to star Has Fallen franchise actor Aaron Eckhart as the commander of a elite unit of commandos during the Vietnam war who embark on a suicide mission to retrieve sensitive intel but are instead ambushed by an overwhelming enemy. The film is based on true events and now it is confirmed that Saban Films has acquired the pic which is readying for a Fall shoot.

Per Deadline: The pic, which Burman co-wrote with Michael McClung, is based on a true story and follows a group of elite commandos, led by Captain Drummond (Eckhart), tasked with collecting classified information that can change the fate of the war. On the edge of the jungle, the team is attacked by an overwhelming invisible force of the enemy army and must follow it into the complex labyrinth of Cu Chi tunnels, with the enemy and traps at every turn.

The film has recently added to its impressive cast and joint Eckart are Cody Christian, Dermot Mulroney and Jason Genao with Mark Earl Burman (Dog Eat Dog) set to helm. The film is one of many productions gearing up as the film industry goes back to work after the pandemic shutdown and Ambush will begin principle photography this Fall in Columbia with compliance with COVID-19 health guidelines.

I am so excited to start production on such a stellar story with such a top-notch cast and crew on Ambushand working alongside my friends at Highland Film Group and Saban Films,” Mark Burman, who is producing the film under the Dark Mark Productions banner, said in a statement.
