I know, I know. Remakes and reboots are frowned upon these days but I have one that might excite you as Deadline is reporting the John Wick creative team of Chad Stahelski and Derek Kolstad are enlisting for the remake of Korea’s action hit The Man From Nowhere.
The project has landed at New Line Cinema and per the article, Stahelski will produce as Kolstad has already turned in a script that has been praised by the powers that be.
Per Deadline: Stahelski will produce with Jason Spitz through their 87Eleven Entertainment production banner. CJ E&M will also produce. Insiders say the execs are very high on the script that Kolstad just delivered and plan on meeting with directors for the job as Stahelski is not expected to direct.
The original Korean box office hit of 2010 was helmed by Jeong-beom Lee and it “centered around a quiet pawnshop keeper with a violent past who takes on a drug-and-organ trafficking ring in hope of saving the child who is his only friend.”
The original boasted a spectacular finale with dazzling hand to hand fighting along with some pretty brutal knife fights as well and the blood spilled like water satisfying action fans around the world. The film is in the early stages so no stars are attached as of yet but expect that to change in the future with this announcement.
Stahelski is a busy man as he also has the Highlander reboot lined up which he will direct also. Let’s not forget John Wick: Chapter 4 and the spin-off film Ballerina which will be directed by Len Wiseman.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come! In the meantime, check out the fierce climax from the original below!
