After a trailer went up and was abruptly taken down a few months back, STXfilms has officially released a new trailer and poster for their upcoming disaster pic titled Greenland. Gerard Butler stars and we have the footage for you below!
A family fights for survival as a planet-killing comet races to Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garrity’s experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.
Greenland also stars Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, V) and Scott Glenn (The Hunt for Red October, The Silence of the Lambs). Chris Sparling (Buried, The Sea of Trees) wrote the script with Mitchell LaFortune serving you revisions. Ric Roman Waugh, who helmed Butler in Angel Has Fallen, reunites with the actor for this one.
The film is slated to open in theaters this August 14th and cinemas are looking for new product to get people back in seats as all the major releases have been delayed. Other films set to hit next month include Tenet, MULAN and Unhinged. It will be interesting to see what films fill the void this year when cineplexes open back up and no major releases are coming out yet.
No surprise, Greenland isn’t up against any competition that weekend so it might profit as audiences will want something new to come back to.
Drunk off Cinema... and Vodka.
