I have a confession to make. I have not yet seen the Korean Zombie kill fest Train to Busan. I know, I know but I intend to rectify that little situation soon especially now that Well Go USA will be unleashing the sequel Train to Busan Presents PENNINSULA in the near future.
The follow up looks more like a military Actioner where the original was a heart stopping thrill ride of immense proportions.
In anticipation of the release, in its homeland of Korea as well as the Cannes Film Festival, two brand new posters have been released which highlight the action we are in store for and you can promptly check them out below!
Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
Yeon Sang-Ho (Train to Busan) returns again to helm with a cast that includes Gang Dong-Won (My Brilliant Life) as Jung-Seok, Lee Jung-Hyun (The Battleship Island) as Min-Jung, Lee Re (Witch’s Court) as Joon, Kwon Hae-Hyo (The Crowned Clown) as Kim Noh, Kim Min-Jae (Urban Cops), Go Kyo-Hwan, Kim Do-Yoon, and Lee Ye-Won.
Well Go USA is hoping to release the film soon but all of that is up in the air right now so we are in a holding pattern. Hopefully after it’s Korean premiere, we will hear about more release info for the film which promises next level action sequences. Yeah, I’m sold and I would love to have a double feature with both movies. I actually haven’t checked out don’t Zombie Actioners lately do hopefully these will fill the void.
In the meantime, check out the recent trailer that was released a few months back and witness the next evolution of zombie horror-action and prepare to “Escape The Apocalypse!”
