Back in February before all the chaos erupted, Harrison Ford confirmed that production was getting set to roll in a few months on a fifth Indiana Jones film but then the bottom dropped out a little when Steven Spielberg stepped down as Director sighting that he wanted someone else to take over.
News then came about that Logan Helmer James Mangold was in negotiations to direct but since then and one pandemic later, nothing more has transpired.
Well producer Frank Marshall has now shed some light in the project as he spoke with Collider about the status and where the film stands.
Mangold will helm and the script is being worked on as we speak. “His love of the franchise. He’s a wonderful filmmaker. I think he also has a relationship with Harrison. It was all of the right pieces coming together, at the right time.” Marshall said on Mangold and why he was the best pick for the project. The director has proven himself more than once and Logan was the best X-Men movie to date.
Marshall also brought some updates on when production might happen given the current state of things.
“The number one thing, obviously, is the safety of everybody – the cast, the crew, and all of us. So, we’re looking at the guidelines that are coming slowly, from the health experts and the studios and the different parts of the business, and we’re just trying to incorporate everything, so we can move forward and be safe. It’s going to obviously slow things down, so we’re trying to adjust. You won’t see a lot of big crowd scenes, for example, for awhile. There won’t be any more craft service, so maybe that’ll be good for people, in keeping more fit. It’s a moving target right now. There are a lot of people working on the solutions, to be able to work and be safe.
Spielberg will still be involved as a producer on the film so I feel that the iconic franchise will still be in good hands. A new entry has been in development for years and there was a time when they were looking to go younger with the character but we all know how that turned out. Hopefully Ford still has gas in the tank after all the delays.
Stay tuned for more developments as they come around and until then, keep it locked and loaded right here as we are your source for everything action!
