I had just posted the news about RLJE Films releasing the apocalyptic Actioner Kill Mode on Blu-Ray this June and now we have more news about the film company courtesy of Deadline saying that they have acquired the new crime-thriller The Tax Collector which stars Shia LaBeouf in the gritty tale which was helmed by Fury’s David Ayer which is set to hit theaters in the future.

Per Deadline: In the drama, David (Soto) and Creeper (Shia LaBeouf), are “tax collectors” for the crime lord Wizard, collecting his cut from the profits of local gangs’ illicit dealings. But when Wizard’s old rival returns to Los Angeles from Mexico, the business is upended, and David finds himself desperate to protect what matters more to him than anything else: his family.

Ayer also penned the script for the film which also stars Bobby Soto (Narcos: Mexico), Cinthya Carmona (East Los High), and George Lopez.

The film was actually filmed over two years ago and finally it is scheduled to see the light of day this August in theaters.

“We are lucky to have an amazing caliber of actors and writer/director David Ayer on The Tax Collector,” said Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer of RLJE Films in an official statement. “Audiences will be awed and entertained by the talent they will see on the screen with this intense, edge-of-your-seat thriller.
