Once again, here’s another project that I totally forgot about but now we have more word on the reboot series for The EQUILIZER which will feature Queen Latifah taking over from Edward Woodward who starred in the original and Denzel Washington who headlined the two films. The reboot has received a series order from CBS meaning that it will definitely see at least one season at the network.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and per the site: Queen Latifah takes on the role that was originally played by Edward Woodward on the CBS drama that ran for four seasons in the mid- to late-1980s. (The Equalizer also was rebooted as two feature films with Denzel Washington in 2014 and 2018.) The reimagining will see Latifah’s character use her mysterious background and extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. Chris Noth and Lorraine Toussaint co-star in the series from Castle creators Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller. Latifah, John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Richard Lindheim (co-creator of the original Equalizer TV series), Shakim Compere and Liz Friedlander exec produce the series, which is a co-production.

Now let me just stare that I think that Queen Latifah is a phenomenal musician and actress but I think Denzel Washington owns the trike ever since he did the two films. I never watched the original series with Woodward but my mom did and she loved it so the films is all I have to base my opinion on but I’ll give it a shot. Denzel is the man and will be hard to top.
The reboot made make a good companion piece to SEAL TEAM and SWAT seeing that Hawaii 5-O is gone so we will see. Hopefully we get a new season of anything this year after the shutdown in March so I’m game for all right now.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come!
