Lionsgate and longtime partner Grindstone Entertainment have inked a new deal which will keep the two entities in collaboration for years to come and the new deal includes a new action-thriller starring Mel Gibson!

The new film which will see Gibson headline in an action role is called Force of Nature also stars Emile Hirsch of Lone Survivor and Kate Bosworth who was featured in the Jason Statham action pic Homefront. Grindstone President and CEO Barry Brooker and principal Stan Wertlieb shared the news today although not much else is known about the film although it is an action- thriller and Gibson will be in charge.

Deadline dropped the exclusive word and Lionsgate Worldwide Home Entertainment President Ron Schwartz stated:

“This extension continues a longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship for both our companies. Barry and Stan are the best in the business and have built Grindstone into a home for great talent, exciting properties and a source of consistent profitability. We look forward to expanding our partnership with one of the most innovative and recognizable brands in the multiplatform streaming space.”

Brooker and Wertlieb added, “Lionsgate provides an amazing global content platform for our films, and we look forward to extending and expanding our long and successful collaboration with Ron and his world-class team. Our relationships with leading producers, filmmakers and stars continues to drive our ability to distinguish ourselves as innovators in the current streaming environment, and we will continue to pivot to take advantage of the marketplace. We will also continue to pursue a more global approach to our business as we work strategically with top content creators around the world.”

Another title of note that was part of the deal is a new Gerard Butler thriller which is called Hair Of The Dog which is an interesting title to say the least.

Grindstone is recently responsible for putting out the Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista action sequel Escape Plane: The Extractors.

Hopefully, the recently announced Lethal Weapon 5 will still happen which is set to reunite Gibson and Danny Glover along with Richard Donner returning to direct. Anyway you slice it, it’s great to see Gibson headline some cool action films again. He is also co-starring with Frank Grillo on the Joe Carnahan directed action flick Boss Level which hopefully will still see a release this year.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come with Force of Nature!
