Well I guess this is how big the Fast And Furious franchise has become as there is a star studded concert held in Miami just to premiere the new trailer. That’s right. A concert party in Miami just to premiere the trailer for the ninth installment. Hell, why not I say.
That’s indeed what took place today as the cast was in attendance in Miami, Florida as Universal Pictures held a special live event just to debut the new footage for Fast And Furious 9 or F9 if you don’t want to say the whole thing. Check out the new footage below minus the concert extravaganza of course.
Official Synopsis: Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.
This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob.
F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
We now know that Cena is Dom’s brother who is now a master thief and assassin and is out to get the Fast crew with the help of Charlize Theron’s Cypher. Also Han, played by Sung Kang, is alive and back! Get excited people now we can love Statham’s Deckard Shaw because he didn’t kill him.
Returning cast members include Vin Diesel of course as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pierce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Enrique Guzman as Simon Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw. New additions include John Cena as Jakob as well as Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, Vinnie Bennett, and Michael Rooker.
Say what you will about the FF franchise but I love the evolution the films have took over the years and while some people want the simpler street drag racing storyline back like in the original, I love the films and this is exactly why you’re supposed to have fun at the movies. They are high-octane, adrenalized, over the top action flicks that thrill audiences all over the world. This one looks like it’s gonna top them all.
Franchise director Justin Lin returns to helm and the release date is set for May 22nd. Check out the blazing action in the new trailer below!
